What it is:

The RRC StationStopper will stop your train at a station. The time delay adjustment will determine how long the train waits before starting again. The time at the station can be adjusted from 10 to 60 seconds.

Why is this such a good thing? Well, real trains stop at stations, and most every layout has a station. It only seems natural to stop there! The StationStopper is perfect for Christmas displays too, and adds to the excitement when the train starts "all by itself!" Reducing the wear on engines by running less often will increase their life too. Theoretically, if it takes a minute to go around the layout, and there is a minute stop at the station, then the life of the engine has been increased by 100%! (Frequency of track cleaning is reduced also!)

Hookup Directions:

Disconnet any wires that currently go between the track and the transformer. The 6 position terminal strip will have wires attached as Shown!
  • Terminals 1 and 2 attach to the sensor. The sensor must be placed under the track where you want the train to stop. The two wires can go into either hole.
  • Terminals 3 and 4 go to the track. The two wires can go into either hole.
  • Terminals 5 and 6 go to the transformer. The two wires can go into either hole.
  • That's it! Turn on your transformer as normal, and watch the train stop at the station. Adjust the time delay as needed. You now have an automated layout!

Some Notes and Tips:

The StationStopper gets it's power from the voltage on the track. If your train is going really, really slow, (under 5 volts) then there might not be enough power for the StationStopper to work. If this happens, slightly turn up the train speed until the StationStopper starts working again. If you really do want to go very very slow, you can add diodes in series with one of the track wires. We can show you how to do this. It's really quite easy.

If you turn on your transformer with a train already stopped at the station, the StationStopper will wait for the time delay to occur before starting up the train. Don't worry if nothing moves when you first turn on the train. The passengers need to get on first, don't they?

Yes, you can stop at more than one station! With additional sensors, you can stop at every location where a sensor is placed.
